Combines GE’s CareGard – the best personal emergency response system in the market today – with the following wireless sensors that automatically alert the appropriate family, friend, neighbor, and emergency responder:
- Medication reminders – Up to 8 reminders per day, the system will announce, in a clear voice, a reminder to take the medication. If the system is not turned off within the preset time, it will automatically the monitoring service and/or a relative, friend, or neighbor, depending on the user’s specific call list.
- Medication Compliance Alert – Medication non-compliance (forgetting to take medication, missing dosage times, or taking too many doses because of forgetfulness) is responsible for almost 30%* of all hospital admissions and 40%** of nursing home admissions. A strategically placed sensor can alert the monitoring service if the system indicates possible medication non-compliance. The monitoring service will first call the user to inquire about their medication and, if necessary, alert the appropriate people on the call list.
- Inactivity sensor, i.e. potential fall – Motion sensors that will alert the monitoring service and/or relatives, friends, or neighbors if there is no activity for a predetermined period of time. This setting is customized by ECS to the user’s specific daily routine. As over 75% of fall victims who had a call button/pendant were not wearing them at the time of the fall, this is particularly useful to detect a potential fall.
- Carbon monoxide sensor – Seniors or any persons with heart and lung problems are more susceptible to the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning. The system will automatically alert the monitoring service if carbon monoxide is detected. The appropriate responder and relatives, friends, or neighbors, on the user’s specific call list are then notified by the monitoring service.
- Freezing temperature sensor - Hypothermia is a particular problem for older people who take certain medications or who have conditions such as arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease. The system will automatically alert the monitoring service who will then call, if necessary, a relative, friend, or neighbor when the temperature drops below 41°.
- Smoke sensor – Fire is one of the most dangerous situations for seniors and those with a disability as physical limitations may inhibit their ability to react to a fire emergency. The system will automatically alert the monitoring service who will then call the responder and, if necessary, a relative, friend, or neighbor.

For users with hearing difficulties, the system can be x10 enabled, which would automatically flash a lamp when the system is triggered, in addition to sounding a beep.
