A free telephone information and assistance service for Minnesota residences that makes it easy for older adults and their families to find community services.  With a single call, you can find particular services near you or get help evaluating your situation to determine what kind of service might be helpful.

This organization serves as the gateway to services for seniors and their families. MBA listens to senior concerns, researches for solutions, and proposes policy to address senior needs. The site is very useful with links to various resources in Minnesota, from benefits to caregiver assistance.  The “finding help” page is easy to use and contains links to many of Minnesota’s agencies that provide benefits programs, and other programs for seniors and caregivers.

Sponsored by the University of Minnesota to provide resources for just about any issue that those age 55 or older may encounter.  The site provides resources that link people to opportunities for meaningful and productive activities, and serves as a forum where individuals and organizations can work collaboratively to promote self-sufficiency, community participation, and quality of life for older adults.

Provides a community program that offers: 1) hands-on assistance by volunteers with daily activities including transportation, errands, friendly visits, and respite care; 2) a Parish Nurse program that provides free or nominal cost health screening and health and wellness seminars; 3) resource counseling to locate the specific local services.

Sponsored by the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Minnesota Department of Human Services to help Minnesota residents locate community resources in their area.

A network of non-profit community based programs staffed by volunteers to assist elders who live in their homes in the community.  Services provided include companionship visits, telephone reassurance, simple home repairs, lawn/garden services, transportation, assisting with Medicare paperwork, and organizing social activities.  They also help arrange for Meals on Wheels, housekeeping/chore service, adult day care, respite support, and legal/financial assistance.  There are currently four programs operating in the Minneapolis area, 17 in the St. Paul area, and 24 communities in the outer areas of Minnesota.

The DHS is Minnesota’s largest government agency.  Its mission is to help people live as independently as possible by providing a wealth of information and a variety of programs and services.  The web site provides a broad range of content, including information about DHS initiatives, program eligibility, application forms, business applications, and reference material.

SeniorNet learning centers are designed for adults 50 and over. Students will be introduced to basic computer skills in classes that are available at low cost. Classes are taught and coached by volunteers.

County and state connections, including the county's Coordinated Home Services program, which coordinates services to seniors in the areas of Personal Care, Housing Issues, Caregiver Support, Financial Management, Living/Employment Skills, and more.
