GE CareGard

The most robust home emergency call system in the market today, CareGard has more functions and features than any other alert system in the market. Most importantly, seniors can use CareGard to answer the phone. CareGard turns the phone into a speaker phone. This added convenience encourages seniors to wear the call button. Statistics show that over 75% of seniors who have a medical alert system and had a fall were not wearing the call button.

Base Unit Features:

Approximately the size of a hard-back book.
Two-way voice: Superior sound quality with long range. In most homes, the system can pick up your voice within 30 feet of the unit, even if you’re in another room.
Serves as a speaker phone – you can press pendant/wrist button to answer the phone, turning the base unit into a speaker phone (volume control available).
Battery backup – Anytime the power is out or the system is unplugged, the backup battery takes over. The life of the battery is 24 hours. The base unit will automatically send a “power out” alert to a monitoring service (or a family member, friend, or neighbor if you choose the Family Call option). the size of a hard-back book.

A personal call button that can be worn as a pendant or on the wrist:

Water resistant – you can take a shower or bath with it on; not meant for swimming.
Excellent range – Taking into consideration the walls of a house, the effective range is 150 feet from the base unit or approximately 6 rooms worth of distance. Without walls, the range is 300 feet.
Three year battery life.
Can be used to answer the phone with a push of a button.
Multiple call buttons can be used with a single base unit – if you’d rather not wear the button, you can have call buttons located throughout the house, placed in easy-to-reach locations

Medication Reminders – ECS will program up to 8 monitored medication reminders per day at no additional cost to you.
Flashing lights – For those with difficulty hearing, we can add X-10 lighting controls so that a lamp will flash during a medication reminder or an activity reminder. Purchase of X-10 module required; no additional monthly or set up fee.
Line grabber – For homes with more than one phone, this will enable the CareGard to automatically “grab” the in-use line when there is an alert. This will not work, however, if the phone is off the hook. Purchase of the line grabber is required; no additional monthly or set up fee.

In emergencies, the stress and anxiety of the situation may make it difficult for family members to remember the location of the person’s medical history and to physically go and retrieve them. Yet this is one of the most important things you can do in case of an emergency. Having an accurate and complete medical history, health profile, list of all recent and current medications, list of all recent and current diagnoses, list of all allergies, insurance information, and physician contact information, among other items, help doctors, nurses, and EMTs to more quickly diagnose and provide more directed and efficient care. Features include:

Secure online database accessible with confidential user login and password.
Update and change information as often as needed, anytime.
Always accessible – Why waste valuable time and add more stress by trying to remember locations of medical records or having to physically retrieve them. The database is accessible from any computer with an Internet connection.
Easy to use and well organized.
Complimentary service to our monthly monitoring customers.

For non-monitoring customers, access to this online record system is $30.00 per year.

Key LockBox

Approximately the length of a Palm Pilot. This makes it easy for responders, family, friends, and/or neighbors to get in the house in case of an emergency without damaging the home or door. Secured with a code combination to prevent unauthorized access, this outside lockbox mounts easily to a wall or flat surface with four screws (included). Manufactured by GE.
