This program was created by the Long-Term Care Security Act, which was signed into law by President Clinton on September 19, 2000.  The federal government selected John Hancock Life Insurance Company and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as the insurers for the Federal Program on December 18, 2001.  The two companies formed Long Term Care Partners, a jointly owned new company exclusively dedicated to serving the long term care insurance needs of the Federal Family.  The site provides calculation tools, quotes, and an online application process.
